Jake Shimabukuro shreds the ukulele

No one plays like Jake. Rock on!

This ain’t your daddy’s ukulele music.

Jame Shimabukuro wowed the Philly Folk Fest this past weekend with some pretty ridiculous renditions of crowd pleasers as well as original songs.

The aptly titled “Dragon” — video above — features some soloing that would make Eddie Van Halen proud.

Coincidentally, Shimabukuro’s first concert was Van Halen. In terms of his influences, the Hawaiian native puts that band and that show near the top.

“That’s what a ukulele concert should sound like,” said Simabukuro, recalling the moment.

His set also featured covers of “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “While My Guitar Gently Weeps.”
